ASHBURN, VA — The Washington Commanders held their third organized team activity of the offseason program Tuesday, working through team and situational periods at the club’s practice facility as players continued building chemistry ahead of next week’s mandatory minicamp.

Marcus Mariota and rookie Sam Hartman worked through the same team-period reps Tuesday, the two continuing to compete for playing time behind starter Jayden Daniels as the quarterback room rounds into form. Both got extended snaps in 11-on-11 work, cycling through the same read progressions and footwork drills as Washington’s coaching staff evaluates its depth at the position heading into training camp.
Washington’s receiver room also had a strong showing. Rookie Chris Hilton Jr. hauled in a clean sideline catch during team drills, one of several encouraging reps for a group that’s been retooled this offseason. Special teams got its work in too, with the punting unit cycling through live reps on a back field as the rest of the roster ran through positional and situational periods.

Head coach Dan Quinn met with reporters following the session, previewing a schedule that shifts to mandatory minicamp next week before the roster gets a break ahead of training camp. Washington’s offseason program continues to take shape as the team builds depth at every level of the roster.
