ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Commanders were back on the practice fields at the BigBear.ai Performance Center on Thursday for the second session of 2026 Training Camp, with head coach Dan Quinn’s new-look coaching staff running its first extended look at a roster trying to move past last season’s 5-12 finish.

Thursday’s practice was closed to the public, one of the non-open sessions on the calendar before the Commanders’ first fan-access day on August 1. Quinn promised a more competitive camp this summer, and it carried into the second day as new offensive play-caller David Blough and defensive coordinator Daronte Jones continued installing their schemes with players on both sides of the ball pushing for reps.
Along the offensive line, Julian Good-Jones worked at center in place of Nick Allegretti, who is dealing with a strained calf that Quinn does not expect to keep him out long. On defense, Dorance Armstrong — who tore his ACL in Week 6 last season — continued his work back from the physically unable to perform list, with the team calling him “super close” to a return.

The Commanders’ first fan-open practice arrives August 1, followed by season-ticket-member sessions in the days after. Washington’s preseason opens August 14 against the Miami Dolphins at Northwest Stadium.
