WASHINGTON — The Washington Mystics used a furious fourth-quarter rally to erase a 20-point deficit and beat the Dallas Wings 96-92 on Wednesday night at CareFirst Arena, extending their winning streak to five games.
Dallas led 76-56 with just over three minutes left in the third quarter before Washington’s defense flipped the game. The Mystics ripped off a 12-0 run in the fourth to tie the score at 86-86 with 3:38 remaining, and rookie Cotie McMahon completed a three-point play with three minutes to go to give Washington its first lead of the night, 89-88. McMahon finished with a season-high 18 points, scoring 10 of them in the fourth quarter alone.
Shakira Austin led all scorers with 27 points and added 13 rebounds in the win. Sonia Citron and Georgia Amoore each chipped in 12 points, while Kiki Iriafen had 11 and Michaela Onyenwere scored 10 off the bench as six Mystics players finished in double figures or close to it.
The win pushes Washington to 17-12 on the season, winners of five straight. The Mystics hit the road next for a two-game set against the Las Vegas Aces, starting Tuesday, August 11.
