PHILADELPHIA — The Washington Nationals snapped a seven-game losing streak in dramatic fashion Wednesday night, scoring six runs in the 11th inning to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 10-4 at Citizens Bank Park.
The game was tied 4-4 heading into extras before Washington broke it open. CJ Abrams delivered the go-ahead blow, a two-run triple that put the Nationals in front for good, and the rally kept building from there. Brady House also went deep for Washington, while pitcher Miles Mikolas contributed an RBI in his first at-bat since 2021. Clayton Beeter picked up the win in relief to move to 4-3 on the season, and Caleb Kilian took the loss for Philadelphia.
The Phillies got a home run of their own from Luis Arraez, who is still finding his footing in his second game back, but it wasn’t enough to keep Philadelphia’s four-game winning streak alive. The 11-inning affair was a back-and-forth battle that swung on Washington’s late-game execution at the plate.
The win moves Washington to 56-60 on the season. The Nationals close out the series against the Phillies on Thursday, August 6, back at Citizens Bank Park.
