ASHBURN, VA –– The Washington Commanders returned to the practice fields Wednesday, June 17, for Day 2 of their mandatory 2026 minicamp at the Big Bear AI Performance Center, continuing the emphasis on depth evaluations and competition as the offseason program winds down.
Head coach Dan Quinn has used these sessions to give extra reps to players who saw fewer opportunities during OTAs, focusing on building roster depth ahead of training camp. The team worked through individual drills, team periods, and situational work with full participation from most of the roster.
Veteran left tackle Laremy Tunsil continued to anchor the offensive line, working alongside teammates in run and pass protection drills. Quarterback Jayden Daniels put in steady work on footwork and timing with the receivers, including connections with Antonio Williams and others in the passing game.
Wide receivers stood out in route-running and contested-catch situations, with Van Jefferson drawing specific praise as a standout during the week. Running backs showed versatility in the passing game, while the offensive line rotations and defensive backs got extended looks across the board.
After practice, Tunsil spoke highly of Daniels. “Dog,” he said when asked about the quarterback. “I don’t really have much to say about 5 man. He’s going to get it done.” Tunsil defined what being a “dog” means to him: “Somebody who wants it. Somebody who’s dying just to be great each and every day.”
The practice maintained a sharp, business-like tempo as the Commanders wrapped up the bulk of their offseason work. One more lighter session remains Thursday before the team breaks ahead of training camp in late July.
