5 Things We're Watching

  1. Wide Receiver Depth Battle The competition for the No. 2 wide receiver spot remains intense with Jahan Dotson, Olamide Zaccheaus, Dyami Brown, and Luke McCaffrey all vying for more snaps. Each player will look to make a strong impression during this game.

  2. Defensive Backfield Dynamics While it appears that Jeremy Chinn and Quan Martin have emerged as the frontrunners at safety, the cornerback rotation remains a key area of focus. Will Emmanuel Forbes Jr., continue to show his new coaches he can contribute to the success of the defense, can Mike Sainristil continue his already strong camp, and how do Benjamin St-Juste and Mike Davis look?

  3. Jayden Daniels' Development Though Daniels will likely see limited action, the rookie quarterback’s development is still a point of interest. The focus will be on his ability to execute plays efficiently and continue building chemistry with key offensive weapons like Terry McLaurin. We also can't forget about Ashburn's own Trace McSorley making his Washington debut.

  4. Adjusting to New Special Teams Rules / Roles Coach Quinn mentioned earlier in the week that he wants to see more guys stand out on special teams. With the new kicking rules, it will be interesting to see who the sure tacklers are and if any of the returners get a chance to show off their skills, namely Kaz Allen. We will be looking to see if Riley Patterson can take advantage of being the only kicker in camp as well.

  5. Defensive Line Pressure Generating pressure will be key for Washington’s defense this season and questions remain where the sacks will come from. Jon Allen and Daron Payne did not play in the first game but we should get a good look at new additions Clelin Ferrell, Dorrance Armstrong, John Ridgeway, and some of the other space eaters Washington signed in the offseason.
