ASHBURN, VA — The Washington Commanders wrapped their mandatory 2026 minicamp Thursday, June 18, closing out the offseason program with a shorter, depth-focused final session at the BigBearAI Performance Center.
Head coach Dan Quinn kept the practice lighter as planned, concentrating on seven-on-seven and team periods to evaluate backups and younger players heading into training camp. The quarterbacks delivered clean work overall, with Athan Kaliakmanis and Sam Hartman combining for just five incompletions, three touchdowns and one interception across the competitive drills. Darius Rush jumped a pass late in the day and returned it for a score.
Veteran left tackle Laremy Tunsil anchored the offensive line rotations, while the running backs, wide receivers and defensive backs all received extended looks in the passing game and coverage periods.
Quinn highlighted the purpose of the week afterward, noting the staff’s focus on giving extra reps to players who had seen fewer opportunities earlier in the spring.
Tight end Colson Yankoff and wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr. stood out with highlight plays — Yankoff with a one-handed grab in traffic and Hilton with a toe-tapping touchdown catch in the back of the end zone.
The Commanders now head into a break before reporting for training camp in late July. Quinn and the staff used the three days of mandatory work to get a clearer picture of the roster depth and competition level after OTAs.
