WASHINGTON, DC — Sonia Citron picked up two player of the week honors Tuesday, earning both the Kia WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week and the Associated Press WNBA Player of the Week for games played June 15-21. Both are the first weekly award recognitions of Citron’s career.

The second-year guard averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.0 steals across the week as Washington went 3-0 on a road trip through Connecticut, New York and Minnesota — the longest winning streak of the Mystics’ season.

The week’s signature performance came June 17 against the Sun, where Citron matched her career best with 11 rebounds while leading or co-leading the game in points (26), rebounds and assists (4) — becoming just the third Eastern Conference player to accomplish that this season.

She kept it going June 19 in New York, posting 16 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 blocks in the win over the Liberty — the first 15-plus point, 5-plus rebound, 5-plus assist, 5-plus block line in the WNBA this season. Washington snapped the Liberty’s eight-game winning streak in that game, stunning New York 86-83.

She closed the road trip June 21 in Minnesota, scoring 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting — her conference-best fifth game this year with 20-plus points on 15 or fewer attempts.

Citron was selected third overall by the Mystics in the 2025 WNBA Draft and earned All-Star honors in her rookie season. She is the 10th player in franchise history to earn the honor and the first since Shakira Austin won it on June 24, 2025.
