Layne Riggs celebrates in victory lane at Pocono Raceway

LONG POND, Pa. — Layne Riggs capped one of the best weekends of his young career Friday, leading the final 20 laps to win the MillerTech Battery 200 at Pocono Raceway for his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory of the season. Riggs’ No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford beat Tricon Garage’s Tanner Gray to the line by 3.64 seconds, the 23-year-old’s third career series win and first-ever pole to go with it.

For most of the afternoon it looked like championship leader Corey Heim was headed for a repeat of his 2024 Pocono sweep, as Heim led a race-best 48 of 90 laps and picked up his series-record 12th stage win. But Heim’s No. 11 Toyota suffered a flat tire on a restart with 19 laps to go, and when Cup regular Carson Hocevar jumped the field on the ensuing restart and was penalized for it, Riggs — running second and serving as the control car — inherited the lead for good. Kaden Honeycutt finished third, with Brandon Jones and Daniel Hemric rounding out the top five.

All-Pro Reels was on-site for the opening leg of Pocono’s NASCAR tripleheader weekend, capturing the celebration and the crowd against the backdrop of the Tricky Triangle.
